ARMOUR, J. A., J. B. PACE, AND W. C. RANDALL. kWreZationship of architecture and function uf the right ventricle. Am. J. Physiol. 2N3(1): ,)174-179. 1970.-The sequence of contraction and augmentation patterns in contractile force of the sinus and conus regions of the right ventricle were analyzed under control, vagal, and sympathetic stimulation as well as norepinephrine infusion states. The normal peristaltic contraction wave from sinus to conus was exaggerated during vagal stimulation but made more nearly synchronous or even abolished during stellate ganglion stimulation. The sinus to conus sequence was often reversed as a result of norepinephrine augmentation. Whereas the conus fibers showed greater increase in force of contraction than did the sinus fibers during stellate stimulation and norepinephrine injection, pressures recorded from the sinus portion of the right ventricle greatly exceeded those measured simultaneously from the conus. A marked intraventricular pressure gradient was created from sinus to conus, with a relatively smaller gradient from conus to pulmonary artery. Thus, the functional intervention of the infundibular region of the right ventricle as a pressure regulator protecting the pulmonary vasculature may be hypothesized.

بررسی یافته های اکوکاردیو گرافیک قلبی در بیماران سیروز کبدی

Introduction: Cardiovascular abnormalities have been reported in liver cirrhosis (LC). In these patients, cardiac symptoms and physical signs occur as the liver functions worsen. Cirrhosis is associated with hyper dynamic circulation and beta-adrenergic system changes responsible for the cardiovascular abnormalities. The purpose of the present study was to explore the echocardiographic findi...

PSEUDOANEURYSM OF RIGHT VENTRICLE DUE TO LOCALIZED TUBERCULOSIS OF MYOCARDIUM: A CASE REPORT

A 5-year-old girl was admitted to the hospital with chest pain, fever and dyspnea. Physical examination showed normal heart sounds, diminished pulmonary sounds in the left hemithorax and a normal ECG. On chest X-ray the heart was slightly enlarged with moderate left pleural effusion. CT scan revealed pleural effusion and a hypodense mass at the apex of the heart. A cystic mass was detected...

Right ventricular Hemodynamic Alteration after Pulmonary Valve Replacement in Children with Congenital Heart Disease

Introduction:  In patients who underwent surgery to repair Tetralogy of Fallot, right ventricular dilation from pulmonary regurgitation may be result in right ventricular failure, arrhythmias and cardiac arrest. Hence, pulmonary valve replacement may be necessary to reduce right ventricular volume overload. The aim of present study was to assess the effects of pulmonary valve replacement on rig...

Gross anatomy of the heart in Ostrich (Struthio camelus)

Today, with emphasis on the mechanical heart and heart transplantation from one human to another andone species to another, a knowledge of the anatomy of the bird’s heart could contribute to theseaccomplishments. Eight male adult ostriches were used to study the heart macroscopically. This studyrevealed that the ostrich heart has some different features from the other birds. In the ostrich, fib...

Right sided heart evaluation after successful mitral valve replacement.

Introduction: It is well-documented that right-sided heart dysfunction and significant tricuspid valve regurgitation (TVR) have adverse effects on patient outcomes after left-sided heart valve surgery. Therefore, the evaluation of right ventriclular (RV) function and TR severity in patients who had undergone mitral valve replacement (MVR), associated with/without concomitant su...
